Question regarding separation or divorce

Hi,

I have a question about if the Danish government can deal with the case.
I and my wife are from Asian countries. We do not have PR but holding green card visa and going to expired next spring. We do have full time jobs.

Our marriage is registered in the UK while we were students there. At that time, we do not have kids. We also registered in my home country and the boy delivered in my country. So, my kid has the same citizenship as me.

Currently, my wife has a fair with her direct boss and she is in the highly unstable situation and would like to propose the separation or divorce to me.

I would like to know, if the Danish civil court can deal with the case or I should go back to my home country to deal with the matter. Of course, I hope we can solve the problem and not to have the separation or divorce.

Your divorce can either happen by a court decision (the expensive way) or by an administrative decision (the fee is about 900 DKK).

Whichever you choose, you must be prepared to repeat the procedure everywhere your marriage is registered.

The Danish administrative divorce is only recognized in the other Nordic countries, and a Danish court decision may even not be recognized in other countries, unless Denmark has a convention with the country.

I know of Danish and Danish/foreign couples who have had to repeat their divorce in the country where they were living when married, even when the country was a EU-country.
