CPR - number?

So I just received my residence card in the mail! (For those interested, I sent in my application in late October).

My question is: how do I get a CPR number? We figured that it would be assigned at the same time as my residence permit, but there was no mention of it in the very brief letter (two sentences!) that accompanied my residence card. I thought that I needed a CPR number to work, but the card says that IT gives me the right to work in Denmark. Was something maybe lost in the mail? Do I need to go to the municipality to apply for my CPR number? Is there more information forthcoming from Udlændingestyrelsen or is this it? It feels a little anti-climactic.

Yes, you go to 'Borgerservice' if it does not come within a couple of weeks.

So can I work like the card says? And what about taking Danish classes? Will the kommune let me know about that or do I take care of it myself? Sorry, I just assumed there would be a packet of information about all of this stuff along with the residence card.

You can get all the information when you go to Borgerservice to register your address and obtain the CPR number.

Thanks! We went to Borgerservice and they said that it was unusual that we didn't get more information from Udlændingestyrelsen, but that they would register my address and get me a CPR number.

The following day, we received a packet in the mail from Udlændingestyrelsen with information about my residence permit. The strange thing is that was postmarked back at the end of March, and says that I will get my residence card AFTER I register my address with Borgerservice, and that I have to report to Borgerservice 5 days after receiving the letter at latest, and my residence card will arrive 2-3 weeks after I do that. But I already have the card and registered my address with Borgerservice yesterday. It looks like this packet was lost in the mail, so most of the information looks out of date with regards to my residence card. Do I need to worry about the 5 day thing? If they were expecting me to receive it on the 1st or 2nd of April, we would have missed the 5 day rule, but I already have the card. It seems strange that they wrote this rule but then didn't follow it themselves. Does this sound like something that's happened to anyone else before? It seems like Udlændingestyrelsen is a bit of a mess right now.

Ok, so I received my CPR number in the mail today, so I guess there's no problem. Very strange, though.
