travel with a family reunification visa

Indlæg af shreya » 24.11.2014 09:34:43

I have lived for 3 years with a temporary family reunification visa. Could you tell me how long I am allowed to be out of the country before my visa lapses?
Thanks!

If you intend to stay in another Schengen country, you can stay there for a maximum of 90 days without applying for a residence permit/card in that country.

In general, you can stay outside of Denmark for a maximum of 180 days in a year and still remain registered as a resident of Denmark. If you are outside of Denmark more than 180 days in a year, you are obliged to change your address in the Danish registry. Once the authorities have noted you don't live in Denmark anymore, you will lose your Danish residence permit.

Thank you for your reply. I left Denmark at the beginning of September and might have be out of the country for more than 180 days and lose my residence by the end of February. I am concerned about my financial concerns in Denmark in this case. Will I have to close my bank account then? And also I am due to get money back from skat for 2013 financial year, will they still pay it out? If you have any information on this it would very appreciated.

Please note it is your duty to notify Borgerservice about your leaving the country for more than 180 days. If you provide them with your new address, your tax letters will be sent abroad. As for keeping your Danish bank account, I suggest you contact your bank.

It is no problem to keep your bank account. My husband has not lived in DK for more than 6 years, but still has a bank account there.
