A copy of letter to the Ministry of Integration

Indlæg af cheshirecat » 23.06.2008 17:55:07

A copy of letter I am sending to the Integration Ministry. I am getting really frustrated at them!

Dear Sir/Madam

My name is Exxx (CPR number 0xxxxx/UDL nr: 1-xxxx and I am an Indonesian citizen who is living in Denmark under family reunification scheme with my husband Axxxx (CPR number xxxxx). I applied for extension of residence permit (forlængelse af opholdstilladelse) to Udlændingeservice on February 12, 2008 since my permit is due to expire on March 15, 2008.

According to the website, it says that the processing time is three months but until now I haven’t heard from them. When I submitted my application last February, I was told that I would get it in May 2008, but by the end of May I called them and asked and only got an answer that I would get it in June, and by the time I called them this morning they said that they didn’t know when they would give me the permit and that they couldn’t give me exact date.

The case is that my passport expires on February 2009 and by the time I applied in February 2008, my embassy (Indonesian Embassy) refused to renew it until 6 months before expiration date, so that means if I EVER get the permit, that means it would only valid until November 2008 and that I have to go through the same process again this November, which I think are both stupid and waste of time.

Now I have finished my education in Danish (I have both certificates of Prøve I Dansk 3 and DUF from Studieskolen in Copenhagen), and I will soon get my masters degree in Environmental Engineering from Technical University of Denmark in October 2008 and that I am already under internship in an Engineering consulting company called Kxxx A/S to write my thesis and that our condition (marriage) hasn’t changed except that we have a bigger apartment than before so I don’t see any reason why it takes so long to renew my permit.

I know a couple (Danish-Indonesian) who live in Aarhus and applied for permit extension last May (2008) and got it after 23 days only and when I confronted Udlændingeservice about that, they merely said that they had a lot of cases during Spring months (February/March) but they didn’t have so much cases afterwards.

The answer, is a bit out of logic. Shouldn’t it be “først til mølle” according to the Danish rule? That they should have processed my case first since it was submitted in February 2008? And that I am fully aware that the processing time will be longer during the summer months.

If I am not mistaken, I am also in the positive list of jobs since I am an educated Engineer, a profession that the Danish government (and the prime minister) constantly says that they’re lacking of, and that I speak flawless English and was working as a journalist for an English media for five years before I moved to Denmark. I can only say that I am terribly disappointed with the Immigration Office service and I am aware that this is such an embarrassment for a country which has boasts so much that they want to attract more educated immigrants in the country when they can’t even “treat” one that is already residing in the country, good.

With this letter I would like to officially complain about the Immigration Office inefficiencies and illogical reasons they keep giving me for delaying the permit.

I would further forward this email to people whom I think would have interest to know about this matter.

Yours sincerely,

Exxxxx

Hej igen!

That didn't take you long - I think you were in the mood to write this letter

It's right on the spot! I think you expressed the matter very well and with a nice English vocabulary. Hopefully you will get a reply soon, and the OT even sooner! Let us know how it goes!

X my fingers.

Ps: Maybe you should send it to the Minister herself - Birthe Rønn Hornbæk according to the post below:
Lige et ps.
Ministersekretæren opfordrede mig til at skrive direkte til Birthe Rønn Hornbæk og gav mig følgende mail: min@inm.dk som hun sagde jo flere der skriver direkte til ministeren,jo større chance er der for at det bliver taget alvorligt.
Hej igen

I finally got a letter from Udlændingeservice yesterday giving the extension of my permit until...........

NOVEMBER 2008

Great

My new passport will be out in a week, so I will just send another extension application in once my new passport is issued by the Indonesian Embassy.

Is it just me but don't you also think that it's dumb?

Hi!
Finally something happened and I think there is someone with very red ears in US after receiving the letter from the ministry. Can you imagine it has to come that far, and then it can be done in a couple of days!
But yes, you are right. Soon you have to apply again, and let's hope the proccess will be more smooth then!

Take care and have a nice summer after all!

LOL

I am trying to imagine that somebody from the ministry is actually scolding the a worker at the immigration office.

I am still waiting for my new passport to be issued so I will get the sticker in the new passport and that will submit the application one more time. Life's great but hey I will try to complain less :D

Nice summer to you too Anne. The Danish weather has been lovely these days

just wishing myself good luck...and you all waiting..

Hey Gladys

So sorry to hear that it takes so long time for you.

Where do you come from? I know how difficult it is to be in the first few months in Denmark
