Inviting parent for a short visit

Indlæg af samlou » 10.02.2013 19:17:48

Hi,
I am a Ghanaian national married to a Dane and we are family unified under Danish rule. I am studying at the university in Denmark and thus receive SU. I wish to invite my father to come and visit us for two weeks in the summer holiday.
My question is, is it me or my wife who should invite him? On the invitation form, only one person is asked to invite by using NemID, so we cannot both formally invite him.

Best regards

You should invite. However there is nothing wrong in writing, that your wife will pay for the stay and attach a copy of her payroll slips as documentation, if her income is much higher than yours.

hi
I have the same question. A couple i know live in Sweden and she has a temporary swedish card and unemployed but her danish husband is employed, she wants to invite her sister. When her husband sends invite does she need to attach her documents too kind of show that she is her sister although he is going to mention that he is inviting his sister n law. Another wuestion is she can pay her trip fully but will it be better if he mentions that he can financially support her while she is here? In ths case it says he will need to attach his empoyment certificate and payslis to the invitation?

The swedish visa practice is different from the danish. There are no "country groups" in Sweden with guidelines for, who you can invite. So in Sweden I would say, that it probably doesn´t matter at all, if the husband or wife is the one, who formally invite. It is obvious anyway, that they will both be hosts for the visitor, this is not something, that the embassy will have problems understanding, or that need to be explained.

If the traveller has the necessary funds himself - in Sweden maybe someting like 350 SEK or 40 EUR pr. day - I don`t know exactly, but its something in that ballpark - there is no need, that the host send payroll slips or other documentation. You only need to fullfill a requirement in one way. Fullfilling it in two different ways will not increase the chance, that the visa is granted.

It will be other factors like presumed immigration risk or safety risks, that will be the deciding ones.
