Problem with EU health card

Hey everyone,

So I have been looking through some posts about the EU health card that is needed to use EU laws..

I am a bit confused...

Since my husband is a danish citizen working a full time/permanent job in DK while living in Sweden that means that I am entitled to the EU card ? Should we come across any problems with this?

Im getting a little concerned with reading about people that have had a hard time with this ..

So are everybody else about this bureaucritic nonsence, which has been going on for about 12 month now.

Maybe yes maybe no. Seem to depend on the mood of the danish municipality.

Should we come across any problems with this?

Will it be rain or snow or sun on christmas day? Nobody knows except the lord above

And with good reason. Which is why ÆUG generally recommend using the swedish national rules, if the danish citizen does not work in Sweden.

But isn't it EU law that I get one? I have read about it and it seems that it is ?? If he is paying taxes then he has the right to EU health care for me and his family ?

The problem is, that the nordic convention make the card irrelevant for use between the nordic countries, since it prevent these countries from sending health care bills to each other any way. So the cross border workers are caught in a conflict between the EU-directive and the Nordic convention, where lawyers could easily spend years arguing about, which one takes precedence over the other.

At the core this is a most likely a matter of swedish authorities trying to limit the use of EU-rules by exactly cross border workers by making demands, that are solely of a formal nature, since they have no financial or other societal importance at all other than exactly troubling the people, who face the demands, thus discouraging them from making use of their EU-rights in the first place.

Some danish municipalities have reportedly gotten “a bit” tired about this, and in my opinion rightfully so. So basically, what you are up against, is a “fight” between various public authorities in two different countries.
