Reunification application

I have a question regarding reunification application.

Me and my girlfriend plan to get married, and live here in dk.

My girlfriend is non-eu citizen, we fulfill all the requirements according to §9.

My girlfriend have a child who is about to begin in school next summer, and it would not be fair for the child to be taken out of kindergarten in my girlfriends home land and start in a Danish kindergarten and soon after start in school, if we get a refusal on the application, and then the child would stop in the Danish school and then go back to, and again start in school in the home land. I could imagine that starting in a school in Denmark, without knowing Danish, is a hard and stressful task for a child. And something we would not put the child through, without knowing we can stay here in Denmark.

The question:

Does is influence negatively on the outcome of the application, if we lived apart in each respectively home land, until we know the result of the application?

Follow up question:

My girlfriend is naturally concern about the hardship for a child, who will start in a Danish school, without being able to speak and understand Danish in the be-ginning; do any have experience (good or bad) they would like to share here?

It will not affect your girlfriends application negatively to apply and wait for the answer in her homeland.

As for the school problem, how easy/difficult it will be depends very much on the school in question - some schools have more experience with introducing foreign children into the Danish language and system than others. You should prepare by investigating the possibilities in the vicinity.

If you can afford it, and the child is english speaking, an international school might be an alternative possibility. But I would really evaluate that on a case to case basis and not hand out any general advice. There are special introductionary classes for non danish speaking children, and as with other classes, the quality of these presumably vary a bit.

Take a look perhaps on, who are the other children in that class? Are many of them children of skilled work migrants or danish/foreign marriages? Great since these children are then presumably mostly from resource strong families. Do many of them live in a refugee camp like Sandholmlejren or in a ghetto like Voldsmose? Perhaps not so great, since these children are likely to have a ton of problems, which they will take with them to the school thus dragging the whole level of education down.

You could wait for a year before sending the child to school...In the same way that also some danish kids are being held in kindergarden for an extra year, because they are not evaluated to be ready for school, just because they happen to turn 6 that year.
It is not the end of the world, and would give her kid 1 year to learn danish (kids learn languages at an amazing speed).

Good thing that it does not influence the case that my girlfriend stays in her homeland while the application is being processes.

Then an innocent child will have major changes to the daily life, before it is nec-essary, in the case of a positive outcome of the application.

Additional question:

If my girlfriend stay in her home land while the application is being process, and she need go to interview due to age difference, can the interview be done in the local Danish embassy?

Or if it needs to be a US, are they fair enough to schedule the interview so it fits into already planned visits here by my girlfriend?

Let me just clarify, that there is no such thing as "needing to go to an interview because of the age difference". The rule about marriages of convenience is a point system, where point (negative) are given for various things like previous cross-border marriages, not speaking a common language etc. And yes also for a large age difference, but it is really only one out of several factors, that is being looked into.

And while simultaneous interviews are used in some of those cases, it is not at all a set practice, as far as I know. And also it is not like the interview in itself can always lead to a positive result, no mather how well you do in it.

So Mugin is worrying about something, which is extremely unlikely to ever happen, and even if it does happen, its not very important at all. And frankly my advice is to just forget about this rule and not worry about it, unless you actually get a rejection because of it. And if that happens, then just handle the situation from there, as best you can.

I know, that its nice to be prepared, and often in this forum we hammer people for not being prepared and plan ahead. But you should plan ahead only for things, which have a high probability of happening and/or very serios consequences, if they happen. And which you can actually do something about rather than just worry.

For instance it doesn´t make much sence to spend a lot of time thinking about the possibility, that a giant meteor will hit earth, because:

a) its very unlikely to happen
b) what the heck are you going to do about it anyway?

And its a bit of the same here.

Even though some earlier and less evolved dinosaurs believed that dreams was a look into the future, you should really not worry about this, as it is very unlikely to happen, as you do not even live on teh same continent as the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
