I went to visit her in Denmark on the 20th of July, and as far as I understand it, since I didn't do any paperwork or anything it means I was there under a Schengen visa. I stayed in Denmark for 30 days, and then came back to the USA. I have not left the USA since I got back. Now we have our wedding planned and underway for the 21st of January, but we were reading about Schengen rules and realized that it says a Schengen visa is only valid for 90 days within a 6-month period, and after that 6-month period the visaholder must leave the Schengen area. This would create some problems since our wedding is on the 21st of January, right after my 6-months are up. I've already bought tickets to come to Denmark the 21st of December... does this mean I'd have to leave the country on the 20th when my 6-months runs out and then come back to start a new 6-month period?
If that is the case, do I need to go all the way back to the USA, my home-country? or would it be ok if I simply left the Schengen area for a day or 2 and stayed in some other country, then came back to Denmark?
I'm also wondering, if we moved the wedding forward a few days and had it, for example, on the 18th of January, and then immediately moved to Sweden and applied for residency, would I then immediately be living there under a different kind of visa and not have to worry about the Schengen time-limit?
Thanks in advance for any help, you guys are amazing. This is a wonderful site, and I would be completely lost without all your help. Thanks!
