Help trying to move back to Europe!

Hello

I am a Danish Citizen and my wife is Mexican . We got married when she was 19 and I was 18 and because of the 24 rule we moved to Mexico for 7 months.
And It was such a pain to deal with the immigration rules over there as well and their silly requirements; we had to pay different fees all the time and my wife's job couldn't keep us going.
So we decide to travel with an organization all over the world but we feel that is the time to start studying and thinking more in what the future holds for us.
We can't live in Denmark cause we are still under 24 but we heard that we can move to Sweden.
The problem is that we have no idea how it works or how hard is to get a job and a place to live.
Another challenge will be about how much money do we need to start up in a new country with no money or job.
As we mention we got married pretty young so we don't have an education yet so that might make it harder to find a job.

So if any one out there have been or is going trough the same situation like us please help us out with some info and advise

You can read about the "EU-solution" under "jeg vil..." Unfortunatly only in danish language. In the described situation and unless you are very wealthy (say: 100.000 DKK), it is probably more realistic, that the one of you, who is a danish citizen, start the process by moving back to Denmark or maybe just visit here in order to find a job. Or maybe start a study and get granted SU. As you correctly assume, it is not so easy to find unskilled work in Denmark at the moment, so you might need to work hard on that.

When the danish person has established a financial foundation here in Denmark, then it is time to find an apartment in Sweden and transfer there. It is not so easy to find apartments in Malmø anymore, so be prepared to settle at least temporary in a city more far away from the Øresundsbridge.

When all of the above is ready, then - but only then - is it time for the non-danish person to follow. Moving here together with no money, no job and no place to stay is not realistic at all. So be prepared to separate for a shorter or longer period of time.

So do you have any idea of how much does it coast to rent an apartment in Malmo?

Not really. It depends (of course) on size, location and quality. And also how long you are willing to wait. Waiting lists for the most attractive apartments in Malmø are several years. Waiting lists are considerably shorter and prices also generally lower however in other citys in the southern part of Sweden e.g. Lund, Landskrona and Helsingborg.

Please visit the forum "livet i Sverige og Tyskland" for more information about finding an apartment in Sweden. There are some posts containing very usufull general advise. And also occationally advertisements of apartments for rent or sale.

Please note that if you move to Denmark and apply for "starthjælp", you will need to prove, that your foreing spouse does not have sufficient income to support you, even the spouse is not living in Denmark.
