If you move to another EU country (urgently need help!)

Hi everyone!
I write in English as my Danish is not too good
I hope someone can help? I’m Swedish living in Denmark with my husband. He has a eu residency card valid until 2020. Statsforvaltningen told us that if we move to Sweden the card will automatically expire/be revoked. Is that correct? I thought that the card was valid still for some time ( if we apply for a Swedish eu residency card instead in Sweden?)
Is it at all possible and how should we do that? Apply at migrationsverket first and then visit tax office to change the adress? As soon as we register with the Swedish tax office skatteverket, the danish card would be invalid? He does not have any other entry visa.
Please, any advice would be much appreciated!

The card does become invalid when a person gives up residence in DK, but the authorities do not come knocking on your door demanding it to be delivered for destruction, so you will be able to use it as visa for moving to Sweden.

Your spouse will have legal residence in Sweden as soon as you hand in the application for Swedish EU-card, but the Danish card will then be invalid. Again, no authorities will demand that he hands it over, so he can show it, if he should have to take a further trip between DK and Sweden. Normally there is no cross check with ‘folkeregisteret’ or ‘skatteverket’.

You may also apply for his Swedish card before moving, it may reduce the waiting time for the card, which may be as long as 6 months. You do not need to know your address in order to apply, so as soon as you have decided when to move, you can apply.

You need to show copies of your Danish marriage certificat, documentation for your cohabitation (bopælsattest) and proof of your income (last three months’ pay slips), passports (be sure that there is plenty of time left, before they expire).

First of all, thank you for your kind reply and help! You really gave me some peace of mind.

Do you know if there are any regulations or rules of how long we have lived together at in Denmark? Or is it my time that counts? He has only been registered to my adress for a little over a month.

I can’t seem to find the correct office of migrationsverket (Gothenburg) and if we need to pre-book a time or just go there and take a number and wait for our turn?

All these things/proof you read that danish people have to show SF when they return to Denmark: tickets for going back and forth, contract of renting an apartment, receipts of grocery, electrical bills, joint bank account and so on- I can’t find anywhere on migrationsverkets web page that all of this should be handed in (when returning to Sweden) only see the things you mentioned. Does anyone know? We want to be well prepared.

How long have you been living in DK? If it is a long time, and you have been working in DK, not commuting to a job in Sweden, I think a job contract or your yearly income tax form will satisfy Migrationsverket and Skatteverket.

But if you have only just lived the minimum of three months, and been commuting to a job in Sweden, they will want to see more proof that you have not secretly been staying put in Sweden most of the time, that is: proof of your commute (train tickets, bridge pass), bank statements showing that you have been shopping in DK with credit- or debit card etc.

As your spouse IS registered at your address, he has been with you long enough for you to move, if you yourself have been living in DK for at least 3 months.

As far as I know, in Sweden you just go to Skatteverket to (re)register yourself, you do not need an appointment. I think you yourself should ‘pretend’ to be Danish, when you read the rules and guidelines, because you are both EU-citizen and Nordic citizen.
