Ville bare lige udtrykke vores store taknemmelighed for de gode råd, som vi har fået her på forummet - specielt hvad angik min hustrus ret til sygesikring og danskundervisning inden hun havde fået sit opholdskort.

Vi har netop modtaget vores brev om at min hustru er blevet tildelt opholdsret i 5 år! Det er bare fantastisk! Statsforvaltningen havde modtaget vores ansøgning ca. 15.6. og vores brev blev skrevet 5.10., så fire måneder har det da taget... hvilket faktisk er ret hurtigt, synes jeg. Jeg var også virkelig omhyggelig med dokumentationen.

Hi! First of all, congratulations! I'm sorry to reply in English, but could you tell me, please, if your wife is EU citizen? My boyfriend and I applied last June as well, but I'm a third country citizen, so we're worrying that it will take much longer

Are you aware of the requirement of having to prove previous cohabitation for approximately 18 months in order to qualify if you are not a married couple?

Yes, we're aware of that and actually have lived together in an EU country for a bit longer than that. We also gave around 200 pages of proof of it. I'm just starting to be a little nervous because holidays will soon come and I'm not sure this will be taken care until mid January, when I have to leave for about a month and half to prepare our wedding back home. I know I can apply for re-entry permit, but it would be so much nicer to know already about the situation. Should we go there or call or just wait?
