First of all, I am sorry for typing in English. I do not understand Danish as I am new to Denmark.
My husband is Danish and I am Japanese.
We are categorized as "simple case" and our case should be done within 3months. But now, we are waiting for almost 4months.

We did get a phone call (!) on Saturday (!!) after 1.5month (!) we've applied for my visa, saying that our case looks good and all U.S need is our Bank Guarantee. Great! We were so happy.
...... Here comes the nightmare starts. After _5minutes_of the call, the same guy from U.S called back. He says there is 1 additional paper we need to submit, which is the signature of the head person of my husband's apt. I don't know how to explain, but he lives in a Co-op apt and they need the 'leader''s signature.
No problem. 1 week U.S sent us a paper, we got our representative's
sign with letter, and sent back to U.S right away.

...... and it's been 1.5months passed so far. No words, No emails, No calls, No Nothing!!!! We've called U.S a several times. All I hear, is " oh you are a simple case, things should be done soon." " We are shorthanded, sorry, but we are trying our best."
blah blah... excuse excuse. Things aren't improving. It's going to be almost 4months of waiting.

So my questions are :
1) Are there any "simple case" people waiting longer than 3months?
2)What can I do with my case... should we keep calling everyday?
3) Can someone tell me - what will happen after we submit bank gurantee to commune? Will Commune tell us to go to a police station, and will they give us a visa stamp on my passport? Simple like that? How long does it all take?

I understand there are tons of people who are waiting way longer than our case. I really hope this messed up immigration system will be fixed
and Denmark will become back to a "cool country" for any good immigrants.

When we call immigration - is it better that my husband (Danish native) call? Or I call. I have no problem speaking English. (but no Danish... )
I hear that if I call immigration all the time, then they will get so annoyed by me and they will work on or case even slower intentionally! Maybe it's a myth..I don't know.. I am just very curious WHY the heck it's taking soooooo looooong.
They probably aren't working organizationally.

I think the situation is particulaly bad at the moment because of all the political stur around family reunification after EU-rules in the summer of 2008. And the boom in the number of applications, that has resulted from the more relaxed rules, which were introduced in october 2008 after the EU-courts ruling in the Metock case in july 2008.

At least it is a fact, that Udlændingeservice at the moment have 4.068 unfinished cases, which is a multiyear record. So they are simply way behind with there work, because:

a) The number of applications have increased significantly since the summer of 2008.

b) They could not work effectively in the summer and autumn of 2008 due to all the political stir, implementation of new rules and investigation by the "Ombudsmand".

This is no exuse for the sad state of affair, but it might serve as an explanation

Politically this is a very "h.o.t. potato" in Denmark, because the government and in particular its supporting party Dansk Folkeparti does not want, that the number of family reunifications increase.

Mainly because this means, that more muslims will move to Denmark, since a significant fraction of the applicants for family reunification are muslims. And according to the politicians, it is very dangereous and bad, if to many muslims move to Denmark.

Søren Karup - a leading politician from Dansk Folkeparti - recently announced, that Islam is the biggest problem in the world, nothing less.

So forget about poverty, population growth, lack of resources, environmental destruction, violations of human rights, bad governments, terrorist organisations, war, global warming and the financial crisis. It is Islam, that we all need to worry about. And the leader of the party Pia Kjærsgård did not find anything wrong with his statement.

Our government need to keep this antimuslim parti happy, because otherwise they will need to give political influence to the opposition (Social Democrats), which is inconvenient for them.

So for this reason, the government is presumably very reluctant to increase the number of employes in "Udlændingeservice" to the amount, that would be needed to handle the increased number of cases.

And needless to say, they also won`t accept, that Udlændingeservice simplify their treatment of the cases, since this could result in more permissions being granted.

So to make it short: If you want things to change for the better in Udlændingeservice, then ask your danish husband to vote for someone else, next time we have a national election in Denmark.

As a final remark, this whole anti-immigration balaka is not really an isolated danish phenomenom. Japan has recently announced an initiative to pay immigrant workers to move back to South America and at the same time sign papers, where they will exclude themselves from ever applying for a work permit in Japan again. And a leading japanese politician justified this by saying, that "Japan should not be a multicultural society".

To me this sounds quite a lot like Dansk Folkeparti, so please don`t judge us to hard

So I spoke with U.S on Friday.... they went to check on our papers...after 5minutes of waiting on the phone, they said our case is just finished!
They are sending us papers regarding the bank gurantee today or tomorrow.
I am not buying that 100%, but we will see.

According to them, the clock starts after they've received _all_ the materials. We had to submit additional paper 1.5mo later, that's why our case is taking long.... so they said.
Back in January, my husband called U.S 3times to make sure that there is necessary information before he turned in his papers. U.S. told him not to worry. After 1.5mo they said they needed the paper.....
So everyone at U.S tells different things, it's probably better to prepare more than what they ask to avoid re-submitting additional info later...my opinions...

Good morning, so yesterday the letter came as I was informed.
We are now getting ready for the Bank Gurantee.

The bad thing is...that they _forgot_ to mail us the "notice letter" back in March 11! (The letter says now they recieved all of the documents and our case has begun.)
They mailed that to us together with the Bank Gurantee letters.... If I had read the Notice Letter back in March 11, I would had known that I'd needed to wait for my visa.

Anyhow.. as for the Simple Case, nowadays take about 1.5mo or so, (If everything was perfect).
