Family Reunification

Hello,
It has been very interesting for me to be reading this forum - as I do not feel so alone
I am a New Zealander - my country being outside of the EU. I met my danish husband in New Zealand 21 years ago and travelled to Denmark to join him. Back then the danish immigration gave me the option of staying if we married and I gave up my New Zealand citizenship. This in itself I thought was very strict as of course my family and friends all were back in New Zealand. To top it off, my husband was then drafted in the army - so we found we had no choice but to leave Denmark and live in New Zealand.
In New Zealand we had two children and lived our lives, my husband intergrated very well but always of course he longed for his homeland. He came back to Denmark in 2000 to see if it would be a better life for us but decided that our kiwi children would be happier in clean, green New Zealand. Always, I have lived in my marriage in a 'shadow' knowing that my husband was not fully happy living in New Zealand.
Then his mother died and it was very sad that he had to come back to Denmark and take care of all her belongings - and of course it is very expensive to travel back and forth from New Zealand to Denmark!
Now we have come back - as it is 'his turn' and we are trying just to stay here for a little while and live and work as our children are now grown and living their lives without us.
But of course the very slow immigration service will not grant me any work permit, and even though my husband is a skilled excavator operator - his licences are not recognised in Denmark and he must resit.
My husband has full time work, but of course we are anxious into getting an apartment and starting again if immigration for some reason decide to make things difficult for us.
I find it incredibly amazing how danes can come to beautiful New Zealand, and be looked after from the time they get off the plane by our health system, and not have to relinquish their own country and heritage but it is not reciprocal for New Zealanders in Denmark. There are many danes living in New Zealand, but I do not think there are so many New Zealanders in Denmark - especially because of the language barrier.
Hopefully my 20 year marriage will have some significance and my application will be processed quickly and without problems.
