Maybe it's best for me to write in English:

I submitted my residence permit renewal application in February 12 this year and was promised to get it by May (according to their site) but no, I called by the end of May they said that I would get it in June, and by the time it's June, I called them again, they said I would get it in July.

What kind of service they're offering anyway?

...and what I don't get the most is that it's just a renewal. Nothing changes, (oh I'm sorry - some things do change, for the better. We have bigger apartment now, I finished Danish course and got both certificates of Prøve i Dansk 3 and DUF, I would have my master degree for Environmental Engineering soon from DTU.

What else that makes them so slow in judging my case? They said they hadn't finished reviewing it, I'd say "Screw you all"

I thought Denmark has been blabbing a lot recently about the lack of educated immigrants especially engineers, well my bachelor and soon-to-be master degree are both in engineering area. I'd just find the government has been giving a lot of bullshit lately.

If the magasinet "Penge" in DR1 discussed about this matter last January on how educated foreigners couldn't "stand" working in Denmark due to the complicated bureaucracy and the Danes themselves (especially the spouse) and ended up fleeing the country to somewhere more "friendly", at this point I couldn't even agree more.

Once I get my certificate from DTU, I am seriously considering to relocate myself to another country, who would probably welcome me with "open arms"

What I don't get is that......

"I'm here. I'm here because of my spouse, the government doesn't even need to pull that green card sh*t to lock me in, yet it's so goddamn difficult to get (even) my permit renewed.

(Sorry if my post is a bit too angry.....I'm just really pissed off now)

I perfectly understand your frustration. Many people in here, myself included, are very frustrated about US not doing their job well...

It's definately not consistent with the high level I would say that we have here in Denmark when it comes to service and case work...Udlændige Styrelsen seem to have sunken to a level that one would would expect to find in the central part of Africa. It seems that time simply doesn't matter to them, though we put our lives 100% in their hands.

According to the article, Henrik Grunnet claims that the waiting time will be reduced dramatically. But what happens is EXACTLY the opposite. I was told that I would recieve a confirmation of my family reunion application within ten days. However, nothing happened, and when I called them again I was told that it would now take 5 weeks. And that is only the initial stage of the case work, NOT the final answer....

It is very embarrasing for me being danish, when I see how we treat foreigners. I hope that you won't judge us all because of that, and I hope that your case will be solved as soon as possible

First I must say that I feel with all you who lives in the time bobble of not knowing.
I don’t think anyone ever will be able to truly understand the feelings while you are waiting for answer, before you actually have tried it.
Even that the case is simple and you will get the permission, it doesn’t really matter, it is still that numb feeling.

However I want join you into our happy situation.
We applied for renewing of my wife’s permission the 21 of may, and we got the permission back the 18 og June.
This means a handle time of 28 days.

This is simply wonderful, and how it should be.

Don't worry, I won't judge you (the Danes) because of that. I am simply tired and angry at the Immigration Office and the Danish government for giving empty promises.

I remember that time when they published this so-called green card system that enables educated foreigners easier to get permit to stay in Denmark but only ONE person ended up getting that. How crazy can it be? They promised a lot of things but nothing came out of it, just like you said about less waiting time and what happened is exactly the opposite.

I do understand that the Immigration Office must have received tons of applications every day but the thing about my case is nothing changed! It should be easy to review / look at. Nothing changes compared to the time when I first submitted family reunification here and even back then in 2006 I got it only in two months and I seriously expected that I would get my renewed permit even faster since it is obvious that somehow I am already "integrated" into the society as expected

(Like I have written above, I finished Danish course, I speak / read / write Danish - although still a bit uncomfortable with it, I went to Danish university and all)

Could they just prioritise things?

and the fact that my passport expires in February 2009 really pisses me off too (my embassy refused to renew it last February when I submitted the renewal to the Immigration Office since there was 1 year left - and that the Immigration Office warned me that they could only give me permit up until December since they couldn't give it longer than two months before my passport expiry date).

Great, so that means if I get it in July, it would expire in December and that I would have to go through the same process again this November.

Why the inefficiency? What are they doing? I mean I could see whenever I come to the Immigration Office in Ryesgade, there were like bunch of people but there were only four / five working booths out of......I don't know how many so people had to waste the whole morning to queue there.

Oh well, I have vent my frustration toward Danish government a little bit too much here, I guess there's no other way but to wait and wait and wait.....

What is going on with US? Did you point out the fact, that your passport will expire soon and then you have to apply again, so it would be in everybodys interest to finish your case, easy as it is!
Did you manage to cath the right person, who is in charge of handeling your case? I think you should try one more time (even though I know how absolutely frustrating and timeconsuming) and ask them if please they can make it happen before summerholiday - when everything will slow down even more!!!
Even I myself am starting to consider building a life in Indonesia and get out of here.

I had told them about the problem with my passport and that my embassy refused to renew it that early and asked if they could possibly give me the usual 2 year permit again (because I could always bind my passport together - like many other people in the world who renew their passport but still have their permit on the old one).

But no, that's what they said. They said they would only give me 3 (or 2?) before it expires so that means I would have to go through the process again by the end of the year.

Oh well I do hope by the end of the year I will already get a job and then perhaps would try to apply for the permanent instead *sigh*
I seriously don't know what's wrong with FS. I did ask my sagsbehandler about that, and that's what she told me, that they were busy bla bla bla.

Like I have written above, I seriously consider to get a job outside Denmark. Who knows? England? Sweden? Norway? Those who really appreciate my expertise as an engineer and as a human being LOL and would have no such complicated bureaucracy as in Denmark. I wonder why the government doesn't realise why the brain drain happens in Denmark, eh? No need to have a rocket scientist to figure it out.

I mean if you want to get the educated foreigners coming in, then open your door for the right person, isn't that simple?
