Health Insurance is required by Migrationsvedket

Indlæg af barda » 08.06.2012 12:09:00

I have applied for residence card in sweden and Migrationsverket has required private health insurance.
How can I get private health insurance in Sweden without "personnumer" ?

You contact an insurance company to have a health insurance issued so you are covered while waiting for your application to be processed.

It does not have to be a swedish insurance company, so you can pick from whoever you want in the world.

Thanks for help, I have called some insurance companies in Sweden but they require personnummer in order to issue health insurance.
Do you know any company which can help in this matter, so I can contact them.

Migrationsverket is not asking for a private health insurance. Quite the contrary such an insurance will not be accepted. I presume, that your spouse is a danish citizen and does not work in Sweden. And if so Migrationsverket ask for proof, that you are covered by his danish health insurance. Please refer to forum "ophold efter EU-regler" for an intensive coverage of this issue, however regretfully only in danish language. But since your spouse is presumably a danish citizen, just read it together with him. After all this is his problem as much as yours.

In short Migrationsverket will accept the blue EU health insurance card from his prior danish municipality, but as for now your case will then later come to a halt at Skatteverket, when you try to optain a personal identification number.

As for now the only known solutions to the problem are the following:

1) You can go back to your own country and apply after swedish national rules and forget all about the EU-rules

2) One of you can find a job in Sweden preferably your spouse but it might also help, if you are the one who find a job

3) You can forget all about living in Sweden and start to plan your transfer to Denmark, as soon as your spouse has gathered enough evidence of his genuine stay in Sweden

My spouse is not Danish Citizen but EU citizen and work in Denmark. Is it possible to get health card for him which covers also mine.

If I find a job and get a coordination number from skatteverket and then register to Försärkingarkassan, would it help us or not.
Thanks in advance

You cannot use any private insurance.

What is your nationality and your wife's? Where will you be working?

In that case you cannot get the blue card and it will be fruitless to apply for a residence card in Sweden using EU law.

But as I understood you don't intend to remain in Sweden, so it doesn't matter at all.

You will not be eligible for any kind of residence card in Sweden because your wife is not working and is thus not eligible herself for the blue insurance card.

But if you stay in Sweden for aprox. 6 months, then you can move on to Denmark using EU laws. And then it doesn't matter if you didn't have the insurance or that you lived in Sweden illegally.

You cannot register at Skatteverket.

The only thing you can do is visit Migrationsverket and apply for both residence card (EU law) and residence permit (Swedish law). This will give you a processual stay in Sweden but you will never get the residence card without your wife providing the blue card that she can't get. If you stay in Sweden long enough, eventually you will get a residence permit under Swedish laws. But processing time is about 18 months. By that time you have probably already moved on to Denmark.

I am going through the same kind of process but my wife is a Danish citizen and now a Swedish resident. Anyway, because she works in Denmark, Denmark had to give me health insurance. To be more precise, the kommune in which she works had to issue it to me even though she is living in Sweden.
