Hi to all of you.

i live in odense and have been married to a danish girl and now we are divorced . i should apply for renewing my visa by the end of this month. i lived here for 4 years and finished language school. i also studied for 2 years and been working for the last 2 years. i heard that i have achance to get a renew for my visa.

my question is : Is there any gratis advokat who can help me with my papers and my case and write a good letter for me and tell me abour my rights?

2nd. do i have the right to ask the kommune to help me with paying an amount of money to advokat if i couldnt find any?

They can give you free legal advice. I should warn you that you should go there tomorrow, if they are open. You are very late in asking advice!

You cannot get the municipality (kommune) to pay for your lawyer, and you can only get free legal aid, if you have a court case.

It is very unlikely, that you can renew your residence permit (its not called a visa), unless you have kids with your exwife. However you might be able to get a whole new kind of residence permit called "keeping foreign labour in Denmark", which can be granted, if you have worked two years for the same employer and is still employed there. Please note, that you can only apply for this kind of residence permit, when your current residence permit has already been revoked or denied extension, and you then only have 7 days to do this. So this first step to just to apply for an extension of your residence permit, well knowing that it will in all likelyhood be denied. And then you must wait about 6 month, while this application is being handled. After the 6 month, you will get the "no", and then you have 7 days to apply for the new residence permit. So you will be dependent on keeping your current job for the next 6 month or so. If you can not manage this, and if you do not have kids in Denmark, chances of staying here are very low, unless there is some other compelling humanitarian reason, why you can not be expected to continue your life in your own country.

Doesn't it make a difference which country he is a citizen of? If he is an EU-citizen, aren't the rules different?

If you are a EU-citizen, you do not need a visa, nor do you need residence permit.

Thanks for the answe, I'm not Eu, I'm From Egypt. I dont think im late because my visa will expire in june 17th, so i can aply 2 month before, so im not late.

The other thing, what if i got a new job as an IT man, which is in the positive list. Wouldnt that help to renew my permit. I'm done with the language school. have a bachelor from denmark plus education for 2½ years as an It supporter . I have a union and have right for Akasse. so wouldnt that help in my case.

What if i got married again with another girl. and apply for familyr reunion, would they count the last 4 years i had in here or i will start all from the begaining.
