Two foreigners getting married in Denmark?

Hello All,

I want to confirm here the requirements for two foreigners that want to get married in Denmark. Your expertise and experience in these procedures would really put my mind at rest.

I have heard that it is easier to get married in Denmark than other EU countries (due to requirements involved), so I have suggested to my sister to get married here, in Aarhus.

The facts:

A French citizen and a Costa Rican citizen want to get married.
They both reside legally in Berlin, Germany.
They are both over 27 years old.

The requirements needed to get married in (Aarthus) Denmark:
- In person submission by couple of this application form: http://www.aarhus.dk/da/borger/familie- ... misse.aspx
- Passports
- Residence permits in Germany
- Visas for Germany (if applicable)
- 500 DKK fee
- Proof of current civil status for each person from both: their native country and from Germany
(all documents have to be either in English or German - or Danish. Costa Rican civil status has to be authenticated by Costa Rica's both internal and foreign affairs ministries and thereafter by Danish embassy in Costa Rica)

After submission of these documents and application, the waiting period is 2 to 3 weeks.

This is all that, as I understand, is necessary.

I would appreciate if I can get confirmation that this is accurate. Also, any useful information with previous members' experiences in this field are much welcome.

As far as I know, your list is comprehensive. But the danish kommune, where the two plan to get married, must be able to give the final confirmation of this.

Since they reside in Germany, I would suggest that they apply to Tønder kommune. Tønder was for many years the only solution for foreigners residing in Germany, and it is still a popular choice, both because it is a romantic place and because they have expertise in marrying foreign couples.
