Health insurance question

Hi
I have been living in Denmark on first a student visa, then an establishment card. I therefore have a CPR number already for several years. My establishment card has recently expired and I left and returned to the country on the 'visa-free' stay (as a Canadian) until we can qualify for the family reunification under EU rules (co-habitating with my German partner in Copenhagen) in a couple of months.
My question is - during this 'in-between' period, is my CPR number (and particularly my health insurance) still valid, or did it expire the moment my resident permit expired?
Thanks for any advice on this.
