I came from non EU country. I've been living in Denmark for over 2 years working as Au Pair, my Visa permit will expire in December, so we decide with my boyfriend live together. My boyfriend is a Nordic citizen, and he has been living in Copenhagen for over 5 years. We've been dating for at least 15 months and we really want to live together without marriage. I have read information through "new to Denmark" and I feel like most of the application will be fine, except for the part where they want to demonstrate that we have lived together for at least 1.5 years. How can you apply for a residence permit based on family ties to a person living in Denmark if one of those requirements is that we have to prove that we share the same address? Can I apply for another kind of residence permit in order to live here with him? What are the steps I must follow in order to apply for a family reunification visa or residence permit under EU rules? Do you think is better to apply for my Visa in his own country or here in Denmark?

You can move to any other country first for a period of 18 months, and then move back to Denmark if you wish to live in Denmark without being married.

Or you can apply for a student visa in Denmark (if you qualify and can afford it) and then move your address so that you live together.
