Hi

I want to apply for SU and I even contacted SU office if I am eligible and they told me they cannot say unless I apply, but want some opinion.

I am a spouse of EU student/worker who is getting SU. I lived and worked in Dk for 3 years partime basis sometimes more hours. The question is if I apply for SU can I get since my wife is considered as a worker at the same time she is receiving SU? or since I worked before for few years can I get SU regardless?

Thank you.

The spouse of a EU-worker is entitled to SU, if she is admitted at an education, which entitles its students for SU. You will need to prove, that your spouse is actually a worker. Please be aware, that the working hours are counted maticulously, and that the requirement must be fulfilled every single month.

Thanks for the reply. What if my wife is student and getting SU. I am still eligible for SU since she is working 43 hours and getting SU?

43 hours pr. month is right at the limit. She should work more to be sure, she (and later on you) will not be met with a requirement for paying back a large sum of money. Please read this very recent thread about the subject.

I would adwise at least 50 hours every single month (not just on average). And please note, that we know from another case, that the salary is also of importance. If her salary is below Danish overenskomst for the type of work, she need to increase her working hours to be sure.

The administration of this area is very strict, because the danish government dont like, that EU-students can receive SU at all.

Hi,
I have an Eu wife she was a student and working average 12hours a week for past 2 years.
Based on her, me as student i received an SU.
Now that she will search for a job, she will receive money from her Union/unemployment union.

Will this effect SU that im receiving, if it does since i working 12hours a week. Can i apply for SU?

Mvh/Regards
Rocky
