Hello

Any one who applied for hindersprövning have any idea how long does it take? They didnt give us any reference number and wondering whom should we contact. It has been 5 weeks and we applied at malmo tax office, they told us it takes 4 weeks.

The waiting time is supposedly a bit longer because of June/July being popular months for weddings.

We finally got the letter. The clerk at malmo office told we can marry anywhere in Europe or Scandinavia once we got the hindersprovning. Can someone clarify if we can use these to marry in DK? if not where can we get married

You can marry in Sweden.

Every country has its own laws. In order to marry in Denmark, both parties have to be present and have to be in the country legally. But In Sweden it's not a requirement that both parties are in the country legally.

Thanks for the reply. We are trying to see where we can marry in Malmo and we found the only option is town hall. But cannot find any info how to book for the marriage ceremony.

Regards

Simply call the town hall on the phone to make arrangements. Or go there in person.

You must call Vigselexpeditionen (cf. http://malmo.se/Social---familjefragor/ ... gseln.html), and book a slot. It can be as early as three weeks from now. Two weeks before the ceremony you must send (personally or by post) the two certificates that the Swedish skat sent you, and the name and addresses of two witnesses. (All this is explained on their website, in Swedish.) A few days later you receive a letter from Malmö Stad confirming your wedding date.

There are other municipalities near Malmö where you only have to submit the documents one week before the wedding, and they can provide the witnesses if you marry during working hours. However, I have no idea if they will office the wedding in English (in Malmö they do, if you request it).

Thanks a lot baai. How is the registration card for your wife going? Did you go again tried in the office that was mentioned in the forum. Also is it possible to request witness in Målmo? if we have to send the names and address which we haven't got. Can you tell me names of the other municipality that provide witness?
Regards

Hi,

I just looked at the map https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sk%C3%A5ne_County and searched for the web of these municipalities. You can search for "vigsel" which means "marriage" in Swedish, and then translate... I remember Staffanstorp was one of those.
