HELP!!!!
I wish to get a divorce from my current husband because we are not longer in love (long and complicated history). On top of that, I wish to marry someone else I am in love with. How does it work? When we file for a divorce my family reunification visa will be cancelled right? How long can I stay in the country after that? Has anyone here experienced that? Do I have to get married and apply for a new family reunification visa straight away?
Thanks so much

There are several, who have been in the same situation. In most cases they have been able to get married again before their residence permit has been revoked.
After divorce you will get a letter asking whether there is any reason why your permit should NOT be revoked. Then (hopefully) you can reply that it should not, because you now have a new Danish spouse.

Thanks for the reply. For instance, after the divorce, I will get a letter saying I have 2 weeks to leave Denmark. So, if I get married in this time, should I stay here, or do I have to go out and re enter the country?

You will have to both get married AND apply for a new residence permit on the grounds of your new marriage before the two weeks have expired.

Statsforvaltningen sends information about the divorce to US (immigrant office). They will then most likely after about 2 weeks write to you and ask whether there is any reason why they should NOT cancel your residence permit.
You will most likely be given 2 weeks to answer. During that time you still have legal residence and should be able to get married, and can the answer according to that.
In any case, your residence permit is not cancelled until and unless you get a letter specifically stating that, and giving you a certain date by which you must leave DK.

Hi
Continuing on the topic I have one question. When one files a divorce - wouldn't that take some time before divorce is actually done with all paper work.
So would immigration send this 2 week letter asking for reovking residence permit? Or the moment you file divorce, this letter gets sent?
As I understand, even if letter is sent immediately after filing divorce, one has four weeks to remarry. But what if in that four weeks one finds job or starts a business? What if one has house in Denmark? Does work or owning of property help in prevention of revocation of residence permit?
Kind regards, Rodz.

The authorities do not inform the Immigration office about an application for divorce, they do not inform until the divorce is final.
