passport expired after PR

Hi experts,

What happens to the validity of Danish Permanent Residence permit if the current passport of the person has expired?
Does a PR holder requires to have valid passport to live in Denmark on PR? (assuming he/she does not want to travel outside denmark till he gets his danish passport)

Nothing happens to your Permanent residence.You just need to renew your passport.I don't see any problem in Renewing in your countries embassy.why don't you want to renew your passport?you should be clear in writing.

Mind you, you will need a valid passport at all times if you wish to cross any country borders, even within the Schengen area.

Yes you are right and I do know also that to cross the borders you need a passport. But if for some reason your country refuses to renew the passport for any xyz reason, then can one live on valid PR in Denmark only without a valid passport till he is eligible for citizenship. ?
also, does one need to have a valid passport when applying for citizenship in Denmark?

If it turns out to be impossible for you to get a passport renewal from your own country you may apply for an alien's passport:

It is not a requirement that you have a passport - but perhaps rather inconvenient for yourself if you don't.
