SU problem/giving back

I agree with mh. Since the previous danish administration, which was much more strict, was overruled by the EU-court one year ago, the majority of danes will likely see this as an example of the EU-Court undermining danish indepence and the danish welfare system. And not a case of you being treated in an unfair manner.

Personally I have a slightly different perspective on this, because I believe, that many students from other EU-countries will stay here and work, when they finish their study, rather than go "home" and work there. And then the SU is not a financial burden but rather an investment in Denmarks future, just as it is, when it is paid to danish students.

However this is not the general perception or belief, which people have, so your case is probably not a particularly popular one. And for that reason alone media attention does not seem to be of any particular use in my opinion.

Yes,that makes sense..it will not lead to any result..
I know a person, that owes to SU administration about 60 000 dkk, approximately for the whole year...but as i know he left the country (still within European Union) - in this situation, how Denmark will try to get money back?Because i think they will not forget about the debt. Probably the person will be in all possible blacklists within a time...

Debt collector companies exist throughout this world to pick up on those kind of cases.

And public debt is an entirely different matter than private debt. Public debt can also be collected by another country's tax authorities.

I think, you are better off staying in Denmark and finishing your study rather than trying to "flee the debth" by fleeing the country.

It is Statens Administration, which will handle your paying back of the SU. I have no detailed knowledge of, how they do this, but I presume they will look at your income, when they determine, how fast you can pay back. At least this is how, it is done, if you have overdue taxes and dont pay on time.

In this case with a large amount to pay back and a relatively low income, I think the paying back could streatch over several years and maybe even until, your study is finished. So perhaps you can consider it some sort of SU-loan, although it was not intended that way.

First thing though, and rather obviously, you will need to find a job, which you can actually live from. Even at the expense of a temporary suspension of your study activities.

I am finishing my studies in January 2016, so basically, in the worst case scenario where i will have to pay back all amount, i will not have to pay back immediately,probably after studies.. (or even i can pay half of debt immediately and the rest after studies with a 7% fee - of course if that will be available). As i remember after your answer, i can apply for Permament residence permit, even if i will have this public debt (or that will be private?) - according to EU rules.. or the debt, that i haven´t paid back before the permament permit procedure will bring some issues and make things more complicated?

No it will not. Only applying for kontanthjælp or similar benefits can cause you to loose your residence right. And after 5 years it is an unconditional right.

Also interesting,why when they change the rules (like adding minimum brutto amount of 4700) in 2014, it started to cover me (considering that i made an agreement according to rules of 2013, where there hasn't been any minimum monthly brutto amount).Can it also be an argument in my favor, that they haven't contacted me and warned about change of regulations and requirements?...

No. You knew that you must have an income which is not 'marginal'. That is still the case.

What is 'marginal' is a standard that can change over time. In my first job I made 800 DKK/month + had food and lodging. 800/month would most certainly be considered a marginal income today - an au-pair person in DK must receive 3.300 DKK + food and lodging.

Now received the bill, where is stated that i need to pay until june the whole amount, and if i want to write a ´´klage´´ , i need to send it via University (so should i get some sort of a stamp from mine University?).But if i will not pay , this debt will goes to SKAT, and they will figure it out by splitting my debt, probably after i´ll graduate?isn´t it?
