dear sirs or madams
i hope you are all doing great. swedish authorities will really drive me crazy. i applied for a residence card under european union laws because my spouse is polish and they told me that i have to wait between 6 and 10 months to get my residence card and told me meanwhile that i have the right to work in sweden while waiting for the answer but i need a personal number. i got a personal number from skatteverket (taxes) and untill here everything is okey and i can look for a job but to look for a job i need a bank account to give to my employer. i was in 2 banks and i gave them the personal number and my passport( i am not from EU) and a bank said no and another bank said i need to get a job contract first then they can open an account for me .my question is :
1 do i have the right to open a bank account in sweden with this personal number though i have not recieved any residence card yet
2. who should i contact to solve this problem and open an account ? is it immigrationsverket or skatteverket?
OBS: arbetsförmedling(job center accepted to register me in their system and i wonder why the banks refuse to let me open a bank account)
thanks in dvance for your worthwhile answers ladies and gentlemen
problem with opening a bank account in sweden
Re: problem with opening a bank account in sweden
Banks are very concerned about money laundering and that's the reason a bank will need to see your work contract in order for you to open a bank account. There is no way around that I think.
So get the work contract, then open the bank account. In that order.
