Hoping that someone can give me some clarification. We have spoken to various departments and we get different answers. I am English and I met my Danish partner in London 10 years ago. Whilst in London we adopted 2 children. We have now moved to Denmark and have been here for 2 months. The adoption of the children has been authorised by the danish authorities. We have applied for family reunification under the EU rules. My question is, are there any reasons why it should get rejected and how long should this straightforward case take. We have provided all documentation to show that we have lived together for many years and that my partner had employment in London. We were told by the immigration place in CPH that we do not have to be self supporting. I just wish to get a CPR number so I can start danish language classes. Hoping someone here can give me some answers.

Its difficult to see any reason, why it should get rejected. As you state yourself, it is a pretty "obvious" case. Still authorities have 6 month to issue your registration card, so a bit of patience is needed.
You can try to pursuade the municipality to let you start on the language cause as soon as possible, its not really required, that you have the residence card first. Others have succeded in this. But its a bit up the good will and common sence of the municipality, so try to create a positive connection with the person, you are talking to. Be polite, don´t shout and complain etc. Its nature for most British people to behave like that, so I don´t think you will find it difficult to follow this rather obvious recommendation

If your wife already was a job, and none of you expect to need to receive social welfare for the next 5 years, you can probably get a residence card faster at Statsforvaltningen by applying not as a family member of a returning EU-Citizen (your wife) but simply as a British citizen wanting to live in Denmark.
Statsforvaltningen will need to see proof of some income eg. the payroll slips of your wife, and then I think they will usually issue the card pretty fast, maybe within a few weeks.
The process at US is a bit more tedious, because if they approve the application, you will gain the additional right to claim social welfare (kontanthjælp) after 3 month in Denmark with no right for authorities to kick you out.
Still, you have applied at US already, and their service target is 3 month. So maybe better to not change horse in the middle of the river.
