Hey everyone !


I just thought I would share my good news with everyone here..

My danish husband and I moved to sweden around christmas time and handed in a application for Swedish residency permit 3 weeks ago. Today we got a letter in the mail stating that I have been granted a 2 year permit to stay in sweden. I waited less than a month to get a response! We were going to apply for the EU card, but since my husband is danish and could prove that he had the right of residence already granted to him in sweden (you get this by proving that he is registered through skatterverket) I was able to apply for the residence permit while in Sweden on a tourist visa ( I am a USA national) . We did not have to attend any interviews ( though I attached pictures of us together in my application) and we did not have to pay a fee for the processing of the application. I also did NOT have a application for EU residence card in the system, so you don't need to apply for both in order to apply for residence permit. They also told me that it would take 6-9 months to process, so these time frames are definitely very rough estimates of how long it may take.

I thought I would share this uplifting news for anyone who may be going through the system now... keep you head up!

congratulations ..but i guess that should not be called good news yet coz as soon as u want to apply to come to denmark under european law danish immigration service will again put obstacles in front of u ..i know a danish gurl who moved to sweden and her canadian man gets permission there but when they wanted to move to denmark they made it again impossible even if their application was perfect and they provided them with every single paper..they were fighting again for 1 year and half untill they made a lawyer and it him who solved the situation ..food luck

Well maybe so much more reason to just stay in Sweden then? It is far from all danish-foreign cupples, who move to Sweden, who only see it as a stepping-stone to Denmark.

Well, jayoma, I can't say what was wrong in the case of your acquaintance, but there are those who have very recently gotten a Danish EU-residence card within 28 days after applying:

Mh i guess most of those who got opholdstilladelse er americans or canadians or europeans ...danish gouvernments prefer those people to other people who does not share the same religious , race and ehtnic backgrounds with them..give me for example a turkish or iraqi or moroccan or nigerian who can get this either via europan union law or family renufication her in denmark..impossible..even the exam A1 americans and canadians are exempted as if others are stupid and they can not pass a crappy shit exam that i personlay had passed without having been in any school and ready to take dansk 3 without going to school still..sweden is so better than denmark in democracy that why forgeiners there easily get integrated coz they respect everybody no matter what his religion is or his race or ehtnic groupe he belongs too

Nonsence.

The bureaucrats at Udlændingestyrelsen are perfectly capable of mishandling an application, nomather the nationality and etniticity of both the applicant and the sponsor/reference person.

And yes all nationalities can have a residence permit in Denmark, if they live up to the requirements. The rules do not depend on the applicants nationality at all, at least not after they were changed in may 2012 by our current government.

Last year 127 spouses from Turkey got a residence permit, 16 from Irak and 35 from Marocco, all according to this publication:

I have mentioned a number of times that I live in Istanbul, Turkey. I am not employed by the Danish government, in fact I am not employed by anyone at all, except myself.

And I too have a right to express my opinion, even if you do not like it.
