Self Sufficient standards in Sweden

Indlæg af Sunnyd3791 » 14.11.2012 20:30:27

We are planning our move to Sweden, but I just want to verify that we meet the self-sufficient funds needs..

My partner's total income per month is roughly 17,000 DKK after taxes. We have a rented apartment for 8,000dkk a month and have a transportation pass that costs him roughly 1900dkk a month. That leaves us with roughly 7000 dkk a month after taxes..He also has 120,000 dkk in the bank as well. He is a full time worker in Denmark and will be having a permeant income while we are living there.. do you think that we will have a problem with fulfilling the requirement?

Thanks !

No, wouldn't think so.

Those on a borderline case would have less than 6,200 SEK per month or so to live for (a couple with no children).

Has he remembered to calculate with the transportation tax deduction (befordringsfradrag), he will be allowed?

My friend who lives in Horsens and commutes to Aarhus gets so much in deduction that her train pass is 'free'.

One more question:

For my danish husband how difficult is it for him to move to sweden? It seems pretty straight forward since he makes a good income (as stated above),has a permanent job, and now a 1 year lease on an apartment with the option to extend. So he just goes to the swedish tax agency and registers? Is it THAT simple?

After dealing with the Danish hellish system Im a bit timid with things sounding this simple ;)

Thanks !

All Nordic citizens have a right to settle in another Nordic country. It IS slightly more simple than the right that all EU-citizens have to settle in other EU-countries.

A German must somehow be self-supporting in order to have the right to live in Sweden, but a Dane, Norwegian, Fin, Icelander and Greenlanders as well as citizens from the Faeroes and Aaland does not have to be.

Also the social welfare benefit is really not that high in Sweden. It is an existence minimum, which it is also intended to be. So if “ends meet” in real live, the self suficience requirement will be fulfilled, as its sole pur-pose is to ensure, that the EU-citizen and her family will not become social clients or need to resort to some kind of illegal income to survice.

As a rule of thumb everyone with a full time job as border worker will fullfill the self suficience requirement as will most students with SU and a part time job as well as retirees etc. It is only really unemployed and students without a part time job, who have problems with this. And these people can generally also not support themselfes as well as a spouse in real live, so their problem is much more than just the lacking possibility for their spouse to get a residence card. And hence the solution is to do something about their financial situation before even thinking about family reunification. Or apply after Swedish national rules with the intention, that their spouse become a social client in Sweden.
