I have been living in Denmark for the past 12 years uninterrupted. Six years ago, I divorced my ex-wife, who was an EU citizen, and ever since i have retained my Danish permanent residence under EU law.
I am currently in a long-distance relation with a woman from Argentina (non-EU). We are exploring the possibility of her moving to Denmark to live with me by marriage. She have visited DK on tourist visa.
Here is a brief overview of my current situation:
- I have passed Dansk2, 10 years ago
- I have professional fulltime job last 3,5 years.
- I did my Bachelors and Master Degree in DK, Total 6years.
- I have passed citizenship exam (haven't yet applied for citizenship)
I need your expert advice on rules to bring partner to DK.
1. Do i need to give Dansk3 exam? if Yes, is doing FVU trin 1-4 equivalent?
2. Do i also need to Pay security guarantee sum of 125000kr to bring spouse to DK?
3. Should i get married in DK next time she visits me (on tourist visa), or in Argentina?
Let me know if i have missed out on anything important.
Thank you for your time.

Re: Danish PR under EU law, Divorced & re-marrying non-EU.
? 1. Do i need to give Dansk3 exam? if Yes, is doing FVU trin 1-4 equivalent?
FVU level 4 is mentioned as one of the tests equal to Dansk 3:

? 2. Do i also need to Pay security guarantee sum of 125000kr to bring spouse to DK?
- Yes, you will need to put up the guarantee, but as of 1st of July this year it will be decreased to 57.000 DKK
? 3. Should i get married in DK next time she visits me (on tourist visa), or in Argentina?
- It will make thing easier if you get married in DK, which will be possible on a visa-stay. Do please be aware that you should plan and prepare this in good time before your fiancé arrives. She must bring her birth certificate and proof of civil status (non-married) and they should be legalised by an apostille.

Thank you Mhg, for your time, clear and concise reply. Much appreciated!
Three more doubts to clear:
- For the language requirement, can I use my Dansk 2 certificate instead? I have just started FVU Trin 2, and completing the entire course will take at least 1.5 years.
- I have Danish permanent residency under EU law. Does the law for inviting a foreign spouse still applicable to me, or is it only for people who are a Danish citizen?
- She is working full time as an IT engineer in Argentina for the past five years. Will this help to strengthen or fast track our case with immigration?
Any suggestions are welcome, I just want to get my fiancé here and live together as fast as humanly possible.
Thank you again for help.

Re: Danish PR under EU law, Divorced & re-marrying non-EU.
?- For the language requirement, can I use my Dansk 2 certificate instead? I have just started FVU Trin 2, and completing the entire course will take at least 1.5 years.
Check the list on the link I gave you - it will depend on from when your certificate is, you can compare it with the list.
- I have Danish permanent residency under EU law. Does the law for inviting a foreign spouse still applicable to me, or is it only for people who are a Danish citizen?
? You are not an EU-citizen, so although your own residence is bases on EU-rules, the EU-rules do not apply for your family reunion with a non-EU-citizen.
?- She is working full time as an IT engineer in Argentina for the past five years. Will this help to strengthen or fast track our case with immigration?
If she can find a job - that is: have a job offer in Denmark ready - she may apply for a residence permit on the basis of that, as IT engineer is on the list at present (until end of june 2025). See:
https://www.nyidanmark.dk/en-GB/Applyin ... 0education
So IF she can land such a job, you will win time to get your Danish test (if necessary). Then you may switch to family reunion, which in the long run will be safer, as her permit based solely on a job will be revoked if she loses that job and can't find a similar.
