How can you have a permanent residence permit? Au pairs are usually only given a temporary residence permit.

If you can receive a residence permit in Denmark based upon your marriage to a Dane depends on a number of things such as the age of both yourself and your husband and if your husband has received any social help during the previous 3 years. You can read more about the requirements on nyidanmark.dk

Once you marry, your au pair visa will be revoked. So if you wish to remain and apply for a new residence permit while in Denmark, you have to do so quickly after getting married and before the authorities get to revoke your current au pair visa.

Thank you for the info. I read about it in nyidanmark.dk and found informations that helped me understand. Now my question is about getting married and applying for new visa (family reunification) during my au pair contract. Is there time for me to apply for a new visa before they revoke my Au Pair permit? For example, 6 months before my contract end we will get married and thereafter I will apply for a new visa, would they immediately revoke my au pair permit and would they let me stay in Denmark while waiting for the result or I will be sent home back to my country?
I talked to my partner about it and he even didnt know if we can marry here in denmark during my Au Pair contract. Thank you so much for your answers.

Yes, you can marry. About two weeks later your residence permit will be revoked and you will not be allowed to work anymore.

So it's important you hand in your application for a new residence permit right after the wedding.

Also, remember to have all the paperwork ready. You should check at the place where you intend to get married what kind of documents they require to show that you are not married already.

Yes. And sometimes such papers have to be verified. So ask at the place you want to get married exactly what are their requirements as they can also change from one place to another.
