When doing this for statsborgerskab (or for POT, I can't remember if it's necessary for POT) , do you have to input even the trips inside Schengen? Does US have access to any airline database where there might be a register of the travel? There are no stamps when crossing Schengen borders

And for the POT, do they add up all these days and discount them from the 8 years one is supposed to live before applying? If I add up all days that I have travelled out of Denmark in the past years it might add up to be months

They do not add up the days you have been traveling in that sense. They want to know that you if you have been traveling to a particular country successive times - probably to argue that, since you have been there so many times, you can as well be there instead of Denmark.

Or they might be hoping that you have forgotten that you must never leave Denmark for more than 6 consecutive months, otherwise you lose your residence permit.

I do not believe they have access to the airlines booking system, but imagine this scenario: You travel to country Y and do not inform it when you apply for the citizenship, something happens in country Y and you have to register yourself with the police. The police from this country has an agreement with Denmark to disclosure their registers. Now the Danish Governemnt knows that you traveled to country Y and did not inform it in your application. You have been caught red handed.

I have been living in Denmark for a couple of years only, but I have a spreadsheet with all my trips. I have been logging everything since I became acquaintance about this requirement.

Holidays will not be detracted.

Read all of the official information here: https://www.nyidanmark.dk/en-GB/Words-a ... 7B2CFA9788

"When calculating the 8 years, in some cases 4 years, of legal residence in Denmark the periods in which you have resided abroad will be subtracted unless it is a short stay abroad e.g. a holiday."

You are not 'residing' in a country, unless you either are or should be registered in their equivalent of 'folkeregisteret'.

Even if you have been residing in another country it is not necessarily to be subtracted: "In some cases, periods of time spent abroad can count as legal residence in Denmark.

This applies e.g. if you in the course of the employment have been stationed or deployed abroad for a period. That is if you are employed in a Danish company but you are deployed to solve a task or work abroad.

The period abroad is only included if you are stationed or deployed for:

a Danish public authority,
a private company,
a non-government organisation, or
a foreign or Danish aid agency"

The same goes if it was not you, but your spouse/partner, who had that kind of deployment.
