No, you need a cpr. number

You can get a coordination number instead of the number given to registered residents. You will need to explain why you would want to open a bank account, though, in order to get it. Contact either the bank or the tax authorities to get a coordination number.

The CPR number is ONLY given to legal residents of Denmark. As I mention you can get a so-called coordination number instead. The coordination number will look just like a CPR number but is given to people who do not reside in Denmark but will need it for tax purposes (such as working in Denmark or having a bank account in Denmark). Mind you, a coordination number will not entitle you to the benefits of a CPR number such as public health insurance.

Also, a head-up: even if you should succeed, you will only be able to open in DKK, not in any other currency, including euro.

My husband opened an account to receive his research grant, which was being paid in US$, but it was exchanged by the bank and put in his account as DKK.
