New citizenship rules on the way

Hi Experts,

Just read on dr.dk

"Et andet forslag går på, at ansøgeren skal medvirke i en ceremoni i sin bopælskommune og dér skrive under på, at man vil overholde grundloven."

What is the meaning of ceremoni and what can I do to meet this requirement?
Is this just a proposal, or already implemented.?
will it effect the people who have already submitted their application?

it also says
"Også dagpenge skal fremover være en forhindring for at få dansk statsborgerskab."

does this means Akasse will also be add to the non-eligilibity now?

Regards

It is a proposal.

And yes, if it makes it into a law, it means a-kasse/dagpenge will disqualify you from citizenship.

A ceremony simply means that the applicant has to show up in person.

Hi Skaanebo,

Thanks for the reply. that was soon. Much appreciated.

Last I took dagpenge from AKasse was in Feb 2017. I applied for citizenship in Feb this year.

Do you think the dagpenge rule if implemented will be for whole duration of 9 years requirement or what? and will it be retrospective`?
this is a bit scary now.

Regards

Since you have already applied for citizenship, I wouldn’t worry about new rules. I don’t think they will come into effect before you have gained citizenship.

In any case, as a law proposal, this is mere speculation. You will have to wait and see how it will be discussed in parliament before there is a vote on it.
