Need your advise to apply for Permanent Residence permit

Indlæg af Esbjerg » 12.12.2017 11:55:45

Dear All,

I need your advice before applying for Permanent residence in Jan 2018

I have moved and started my work in Denmark on 01.06.2010 and I will complete 8 years to obtain Permanent residence on 01.06.2018

I have completed my Danish exam and fulfilling all requirements to apply for PR. Requirement says 8 years should be completed at the time of granting PR

Is it possible to apply in 01.01.2018, i.e.5 months before completion of 8years. Anyway processing time will take 8 months so I will complete 8years by the time Immigration office take decision grant

I have worked 7years 7month as of Dec 2017 without any gap, I have following question and need your valuable advise

1. Can apply 5months before reaching 8 years so that expect to receive my PR in Aug 2018?
2. Do I need to submit any document showing that I have work from Jan 2018 – May 2018?
3. Will they accept application if I submit in Jan 2018?
4. As mentioned in the nyindenamrk. Do I need to apply for extension of my current permit even though my permit valid till Nov 2020?
5. PR fee will be DKK 5760 and extension of my current permit will be DKK 3440 so need to pay DKK 9200 ? or only for PR fee DKK 5760?

Looking forward for your reply

No, you do not need to apply for extension when your current is valid for three year still.

The advice is to apply ‘as soon as you think you fulfill the requirements’ - which you will not do in January 2018. I don’t think you will gain anything by applying 5 months in advance, you may even risk a rejection and have to pay the fee again.

Hi Mh,

Thank you for your reply for my clarification.

new to Denmark website clearly informed to apply for extension even your current permit is valid, see below text copied from website

If i apply in June 2018 and expect to receive on Feb 2019 so planned to apply in Jan 2018 so that i will get it in Aug 2018 which can save 5month so waiting, hope this way is fine

Fill in an application for temporary extension

If your residence is based on work or study and you are applying for a permanent residence permit, you will also need to apply to extend your current temporary residence permit. Use the application form (online or printed) that corresponds to your current grounds for residence. Read more about extending temporary residence permits

If you have a residence permit on the grounds of work or study

If you have a residence permit on the grounds of work or study, you must submit an application for an extension of your current residence permit, or a new application for a temporary residence permit, together with your application for a permanent residence permit. You must do this even though your temporary residence permit is not about to expire.

If it says so for your kind of residence permit, then I would advice you to follow their advice - it's cheaper in the long run, although they also say that you can't apply for extension until 3 months before expiration.

Perhaps this is something that you should ask the Immigration Service about, and ask by e-mail so that you have proof of what they answer: https://www.nyidanmark.dk/en-GB/Contact ... on-Service

I have no experience, but a general rule is that the authorities should answer two weeks after receipt of a question, or at least, if they can't, send a receipt with info on when you can expect an answer.

Hi,

I have applied for PR during Jan by submitting all relevant documents. Received a letter from immigration office that my application will be proceed and it will take 8months from application date

Meantime they have extended my temporary residence permit another 4 years

I am going going to complete 8 years in June so if goes everything according to plan i can expect to receive PR during August 2018

Did anyone received PR less than 8 months :?: because i have another 3months to complete for 8 years :|

Hi,

I am exactly in your situation. Started my job on 1st June 2010. I have applied for PR in Apr 2018.

Was wondering if you have heard anything more from the Immigration on your application?

Thanks

Congratulations, my friend.
Now dont wait to apply for your citizenship, if you seek it.
Citizenship process takes even longer time.

Hi,

Thank you,

you are absolutely right on processing time with Citizenship...long waiting time 15-18months.

I have enrolled my citizenship exam on coming Nov18 so I can able to apply once I pass the exam.

Is it a condition that 9years must be completed before you apply ? One of my friend applied 1year before he complete 9years during 2015

Don’t know whether they will just reject if you are not completed 9years

Yes, I know.

May people suggested me also about apply in the 8th year of residence itself if all the other criteria are fulfilled. But I was not able to find any example where anyone got the citizenship by applying before the completion of 9 years of residence...
So I did not take any chance. I applied right next day of my completion of 9 years here and in few days I got the acknowledgment from them in my e-box....
I asked an immigration lawyer also about this. all he said was that you can take the chance.
but why to take the chance and jeopardize your citizenship process...
